In-Studio Sessions

We at Rowe Photographers, Inc. work hard to give you the best photographic experience you have ever had.  For an in-studio session, please take advantage of our private dressing room and bring several of your favorite outfits.  For formal and family portraiture, we recommend that you wear subdued solid colors with tasteful jewelry that will not compete with your image for a viewer’s attention.  For edgy, fun shoots, the sky is the limit.  Wear what best shows your personality and expresses your individual character.  We will make sure it is expertly recorded. Our dressing room is equipped with a lighted makeup mirror so be sure bring makeup and all the items you need to style and restyle your hair.

Children's Portraits

For children’s portraits, we recommend that you schedule a time when your children are normally active and most playful.  Nap time is never a good choice.  When we photograph children we encourage the parents to just sit and have a conversation with us while the child explores the studio and gets comfortable with the surroundings.  After a few minutes of conversation we will begin to involve the child or children in the dialog so that they begin to develop a rapport with the photographer.  Once that happens we engage them in a play session and begin taking photographs, capturing those special, spontaneous moments.  If it happens to be “one of those days”, we will stop the session immediately and reschedule.  We are here to capture your child playing and having fun.  That cannot happen if he or she has any kind of negative experience during a portrait session, so don’t be surprised or offended if we stop and ask you to return on another day.

Group Photo Shoots

Groups look best when everyone is color coordinated.  Try to select matching colors for tops and bottoms.  For marsh and beach sessions we prefer white, sleeved tops and khakis or blue jeans.

Lighting

Lighting can be a challenge during outdoor sessions.  The photographer’s golden hour happens twice daily, the first hour after sunrise (not my personal favorite) and the hour or so before sunset.  Lighting is very good even two hours after sunrise and two hours before sunset.  Mid-day outdoor sessions are discouraged except on overcast days.
